It seems that the question would have an easy answer... We picked one that we like!

But it seems that the answer will not be so simple if we want our home to follow the rules or trends of interior decoration. According to decorators or designers, there are, in fact, some rules when we think about choosing a rug, especially with regard to its size and colors.

What material is the ideal carpet made of?

The manufacturing material of the mat is of great importance: it will define whether the garment is soft or rough, whether it should be vacuumed or requires localized cleaning, whether it will withstand pets and children.

Natural rugs made of wool, cotton, silk, jute or sisal, rugs made from natural materials provide quality and durability, giving your space a sense of luxury. If you don't vacuum very often, you should opt for a wool rug, as they hide dirt very well. You should be aware that natural fiber rugs tend to be of high quality and some of them, such as silk rugs, require professional cleaning.

Living room rugs

The space of excellence in our home is the living room, the place where we spend most of our time, whether watching TV or relaxing, where we receive our friends and family. Therefore, it is crucial to create a space that conveys a sense of peace and a welcoming atmosphere and that, at the same time, feels refined and elegant. A suitable rug can completely transform the character of your room.

Make sure to measure your living room and sofa in advance. The ideal rug should be about 20-30 cm longer on all sides than your sofa.

If you have a small living room, you can also decorate it with a rug. Opt for textured pieces, such as shag rugs or sheepskins, which add a feeling of warmth and spaciousness. Avoid patterned fabrics, which can give the impression of a reduced space. Choose solid-coloured rugs that match the walls to give the room a cohesive and clean look.

Nothing better than a Beni M'rirt in solid color to add this feeling of comfort and warmth to your living room, and we have some very interesting ones in the Alma Nómada Collection.

Dining room rugs

Carpets and food don't seem to go together: leaving crumbs on a high-pile carpet and then cleaning them up is a nightmare. Fortunately, there are ways to avoid disasters and decorate a rug in a dining area.

One of the reasons we want this extra layer of fabric is to create a perfect feeling of coziness and warmth.

Secondly, with the rug, you can easily outline your dining space and give it shape. The areas must be delimited to create harmony between the various spaces.

So, what type of rug will be the best for the dining room? Certainly, one that is easy to clean. As it is a busy area, avoid long-pile rugs that will flatten over time, so in these areas it is advisable to opt for a kilim.

Bedroom rugs

Wake up in a room that radiates warmth and comfort! The right rug will work wonders in your bedroom and will create a perfect space to relax and recharge. Imagine yourself getting out of bed and stepping directly on a soft, warm heavenly cloud.

Get a rug that's slightly larger than your bed and place it under each foot.

You can also opt for a rug that can be placed on the bottom two thirds of the bed, as long as they are at least 60 cm on each side.

Alternatively, get two smaller rugs - especially if you don't have a lot of free floor space - and place them on either side of your bed.

Here are some suggestions to guide you in this task. But the truth is only one: each nomad needs to occasionally return to their starting point, to their refuge, and deep down, we should create our space as we see fit, as long as it makes us feel good and comfortable, with your own style.

The rest... it's just the rest.
