And how do you start telling this story?...

ree

Like all stories...from the beginning!

2023 was an atypical year, of many changes, of a lot of searching about the meaning of things, a lot of searching about what is worth continuing to commit to and what we should leave behind.

That year, one of the planned trips was Marrakesh, the pearl of southern Morocco. It would be a short break of a week, to change the scenery, meet people, make dreams come true.

In our travel plans, the Sahara was an obligatory point to visit, a childhood dream... stepping on the dunes of Erg Chebbi and seeing the sunrise in the desert.

Ten days before the desired trip, the earthquake of September 8th occurred. News of several deaths, of collapsed buildings... destruction and chaos. This was the news...

Postpone everything or go?

Despite it being a strong blow, Marrakesh quickly began to recover and immediately in the following days and after some local contacts, I made the decision to go, against all the voices that warned me otherwise...

I went... something in me screamed, almost deafeningly, that this was the moment. That the time had come for me to venture out alone, outside of old Europe... to discover Africa, the mother of Humanity, the place where it all began.

Would it also be a beginning for me? And  it was....it was the right time! You know that feeling, that frenzy that runs through your body when you foresee or sense that something important is about to happen?

The intensity with which I lived those 7 days, crossing the narrow streets of the Medina, walking through the souks full of sounds, smells of jasmine, orange blossom and mint and intense colors, the sunsets I watched on the many terraces of Marrakech, the image of the Koutoubia mosque that embraces the hundreds of people crossing Djemaa el-Fna square, the charming people I met, the desire to stay connected with that part of the world gave birth to ALMA NOMADA, a project paying homage to Moroccan cultural heritage ,

I really believe that what is destined to happen, will happen...Maktub, is the Arabic word for this feeling of predestination.
